A Turlock woman escaped unharmed a fire in her apartment that started behind her stove.

The fire broke out shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment in a complex at 3025 W. Christofferson Parkway.

The fire started behind the stove, but the cause is undetermined, according to the Turlock Fire Department.

Two fire engines and 11 fire fighters responded to the fire and they had it under control in 20 minutes.

The fire damage was contained to the kitchen, but the entire apartment had smoke damage. The fire department reported the damage was estimated at $9,000.

The woman was displaced from her home, but apartment management was attempting to find her temporary housing.
