Perhaps you know someone who is struggling due to medical or financial problems. Or maybe you know of a non-profit who could use a paint job. Turlock’s Lancaster Painting wants to know about that person, family or business. For the second year in a row, Lancaster Painting is donating its expertise for a community service program — Paint it Forward.

In the past, the local business has donated its services with multiple projects for both the Stanislaus County Society for Handicapped Children and Adults and Westside Ministries. Last year the winner was Turlock’s Community Continuum College, a day training center serving developmentally disabled adults.

Lancaster Painting owner Steve Talkington said the community service projects promote teambuilding, something he credits for the low employee turnover. Most of his crew members have worked at Lancaster for close to 10 years or more. He joked that the “new guy” has now been there for five years.

“I feel it’s important for our company and for personal growth within our company,” Talkington said. “It shows (our employees) a way they can make a difference.”

Lancaster Painting and staff will select the winning family and posts updates on the project on their Facebook page. The winner will be announced on Thanksgiving Day, and the painting will take place in mid-December.
