Chamber, community honors 'Best of Turlock'

Joaquin Rose won both Volunteer of the Year and Small Business of the Year. His company is B & B Manufacturing.

The Turlock community gathered on Friday night to recognized business leaders, humanitarians and other local dignitaries at the Best of Turlock awards. The ceremony is put on every year by the Turlock Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s ceremony included awards presented to two local football volunteers, Joaquin Rose and Don Hill. Rose also won an award for Best Small Business for his leadership of B & B Manufacturing.  The chamber also recognized the Carnegie Arts Center for a successful opening season and the Ansel Adams exhibit.

“The Carnegie Arts Center has been from the beginning a community effort… so thank you as well,” said Rebecca Phillips Abbot, executive director and curator of the Carnegie Arts Center.

The Turlock Chamber of Commerce recognized outstanding humanitarian efforts of Turlock residents at Friday’s event.  Sister Christina Doona won Humanitarian of the Year for her efforts visiting patients at Emanuel Medical Center. Awards were also presented to two youth citizens, Business Leader of the Year, Agricultural Leader of the Year, Educator of the Year, Youth Involvement of the Year, and Corporation of the Year.
