Nurses with a heart for hearts

Nurses with a heart for hearts

Memorial Medical Center Cardiac Telemetry manager and Turlock resident Sandra Drumonde and her kids, Sara, Mason and Mathis, prepare for the 2011 Stanislaus Heart Walk.

POSTED September 28, 2012 10:43 p.m.

Every day the nurses of Memorial Medical Center’s Cardiac Telemetry ward take care of patients with all kinds of heart disease.

When they go home at night, they don’t stop caring about their patients. In fact, the nurses of MMC’s Cardiac Telemetry ward are so dedicated to helping those who suffer from heart disease that they have raised $5,469 for the American Heart Association’s Stanislaus Heart Walk.

“This is something that all of us can relate to because we see it every day,” said MMC Cardiac Telemetry manager and Turlock resident Sandra Drumonde.

The nurse’s team — A Caring Heart — has raised more money for the Stanislaus Heart Walk than any other team this year.

Drumonde said the walk isn’t just about raising funds for heart disease research, it’s also about raising awareness.

“People are more aware, society is more aware of what we can do to manage our health; but there’s still a long way to go,” she said.
