A woman nearly lost her foot Wednesday morning while working in a sweet potato field just outside of Turlock.
The woman was working at a farm in the 4200 block of Simmons Road when her foot was nearly severed by a potato harvester.
A potato harvester uses a plowshare to lift up the soil and potatoes.
The woman was taken by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.
The California division of the Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the incident.
