Steven Ames new Alliance VP of Economic Development

Steven Ames, a marketing and economic development expert from Iowa, has been named the new Senior Vice President and Director of Economic Development at the Stanislaus Economic and Workforce Alliance.

“The Alliance has been known as the best kept secret in Stanislaus County for over 10 years but is now becoming the go to organization for business assistance in the county," said Alliance CEO/ President Bill Bassitt. "Ames’ experience, leadership, and track record of success are exactly what the Alliance needs to complement its aggressive strategy for economic growth for the county.”

Ames has worked more than 20 years in project management and economic development. He most recently served as the President and CEO of Clinton Regional Development corporation, a Clinton, Iowa-based company which marketed the area toward businesses interested in developing there.

Ames holds a B.A. in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University, and Master’s Degrees in Economics and in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa.

Ames will be tasked with overseeing all Alliance and economic development programs.

“Stanislaus County offers huge opportunity for economic growth with its transportation and logistic amenities, significant agriculture, and food processing industries, varying communities and diverse workforce,” said Ames. “I look forward to being a part of making this Region a better place to work and live.”
