Autism grant program expands

POSTED March 12, 2013 8:54 p.m.

The Carlos Vieira Foundation expanded its grant program to help families with autism into two more counties. Families that are in the counties of Mariposa and Tuolumne will now be eligible to apply for a grant up to $500 through the foundation that provides an item or service that directly helps their child with autism.

These two new counties will join with Merced, Stanislaus and Madera as the now five counties that can apply for the Direct Help Program for families living with autism. The Carlos Vieira Foundation continues to expand its efforts for more families in need throughout the valley, and the goal is to be in San Joaquin and Fresno counties by the end of the year.

CVF frequently holds fundraisers throughout the year to help families living with Autism and to help kids stay away from drugs and gang life. They have also recently started several successful after-school boxing programs to help kids stay off the streets.
