Fire destroys shed, vehicles in Turlock

An accidental fire charred several vehicles and burned down a shed on Julian Avenue on Nov. 8.

POSTED November 14, 2017 9:41 p.m.

A fire of accidental origin ignited a shed and several cars parked nearby, but Turlock firefighters were able to keep it from reaching a neighboring apartment complex.

The fire was reported around 7 a.m. Nov. 8 at a home in the 400 block of Julian Street.

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene found the outbuilding completely on fire, with the flames spreading to several cars and a wooden fence, according to the fire department.

The flames were threatening to spread even further and reach the apartment complex next door, so firefighters moved quick with an attack hose line and brought the flames under control, said Turlock Fire spokesman Kevin Tidwell.

The investigation into the cause of the fire found no criminal activity and it was ruled accidental.

A total of two fire engines responded to the scene, while Turlock Police Department provided traffic control.
