The Merced County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency is holding a prescription medicine disposal event.

The agencies will accept expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs. People can bring the medications for disposal to the sheriff’s office at 700 W. 22nd St. in Merced from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The service is free and anonymous and no questions are asked.
