County seeks cyclist feedback

POSTED May 20, 2011 9:10 p.m.

The Stanislaus Council of Governments, in the midst of drafting a non-motorized transportation plan for the region, is seeking feedback from county bike riders.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee has established a survey, online at www.stancog.org, to solicit input from cyclists on the current state of cycling in Stanislaus County.

The survey asks how often, how far, and why local cyclists bike. It also looks to learn why local cyclists do not bike more often, what roads are unsafe or bike unfriendly, opinions on possible bicycling programs, and what improvements could encourage further bike riding.

Information gathered will be incorporated into the new plan, in hopes of building a better bike system in Stanislaus County.
