City to swear in new council members Tuesday

POSTED December 4, 2012 10:24 p.m.

Turlock’s two newest council members will be sworn in at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Incumbent Amy Bublak, a Modesto Police Officer, will be sworn in alongside council newcomer Steven Nascimento, a former Parks, Recreation, and Community Commissioner and District Director for State Sen. Anthony Cannella (R – Ceres). The two earned the most votes of four competitors in the Nov. 6 election.

Also being sworn in will be incumbent City Treasurer Diana Lewis, who won reelection unopposed on Nov. 6.

The swearing-in ceremony will be preceded by a 6 p.m. reception at City Hall, honoring outgoing Councilwoman Mary Jackson. Jackson served the council since December 2008.

The public is welcome to attend both the reception and the swearing-in ceremony.  Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped children’s gift to donate to Turlock Together, a local non-profit which provides food baskets and toys to those in need during the holidays.
