A 20-year-old man was shot to death in Waterford on Tuesday in what detectives believe is a gang-related homicide. The deceased was identified as Mario Ramos-Alvarez, 20 of Waterford. He suffered a single gunshot wound and was transported to Memorial Medical Center, where he died from his injury, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported. The Merced County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the man found dead in a car near a Stevinson bar where a fight had been reported, but now investigators are unsure the death was a homicide. The deceased has been identified as Melchor Mino Holguin III, 30, of Atwater. A 54-year-old Turlock man was sentenced to federal prison Monday for possession of child pornography. Charles Albert Risley was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release, the Department of Justice reported. Stanislaus County’s new $22.7 million Juvenile Commitment Center opened Friday with an emphasis on educating and rehabilitating the youths at the facility. The 60-bed facility at 2215-A Blue Gum Ave. in Modesto is adjacent to Juvenile Hall. It will be used to house young offenders who have become committed wards of the court.
