More than 500 marijuana plants were discovered growing on a Turlock parcel near an elementary school, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The large scale bust was made by the Turlock Narcotics Enforcement Team Wednesday at a residence in the 200 block of Montana Street, about 400 feet away from Cunningham Elementary School, police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said.

The parcel was approximately one acre and was being used to grow 527 marijuana plants. The narcotics team also found processed marijuana and evidence that indicated sales of marijuana, Lewis said.

Had the marijuana been harvested and sold, it would have brought in excess of $750,000, according to the narcotics team.

Michelle Roman Jimenez, 31, was arrested at the residence and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, and possession for sale of marijuana.

Lewis said the investigation is still active and other arrests are anticipated.
