The Turlock Police Department conducted a compliance sweep of registered sex offenders in Turlock, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.

Over the course of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, six detectives from the department’s Investigations unit checked the status of 110 individuals in Turlock to verify their compliance with California’s penal code regarding sex offenders.

At the conclusion of the operation, 12 individuals were found to be out of compliance. Of the 12, three were taken into custody. Gabino Garcia, 52, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender since 2009; Joseph Desalles, 81, had failed to register as a sex offender since 2011; and Alberto Salazar, 40, was arrested for moving and not submitting his new address to law enforcement within five days of the move.

The remaining nine have moved from their recorded addresses without notifying law enforcement and detectives are continuing to investigate their whereabouts in order to bring them into compliance, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
