A would-be thief was literally outgunned Tuesday night when he was confronted by a gun-wielding homeowner while he was armed with a machete.
The man, identified by the Turlock Police Department as 23-year-old Derek Coronado, was allegedly attempting to steal marijuana plants from a homeowner on Julian Street. His plans were thwarted when he was met by the homeowner, who had a gun in his possession, according to the police department.
The police department was contacted and Coronado was taken into custody for armed robbery.
The homeowner has a valid medical marijuana card and was growing for his own personal use, the police department reported.
