Man kidnapped and beaten

POSTED October 19, 2012 6:39 p.m.

A man said he was kidnapped outside a Turlock bar, beaten and left alongside a freeway on-ramp Friday morning.

The man suffered an injury to his jaw, possibly a fracture, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The incident was reported to the police department shortly before 4 a.m. by a Denny’s employee, who said a man had just walked into the restaurant on Lander Avenue with obvious signs of having been beaten.

The victim told police officers he was walking with friends to the parking lot of the Red Brick Café on Broadway when they noticed a fight. While watching the fight the man was approached from behind by a Hispanic man who picked him up and put him the back of a pickup truck.

The victim said he was driven around for about 15 minutes before the truck stopped near the Highway 99 onramp at Lander Avenue. Two men got out of the vehicle and pulled him out of the truck and started assaulting him, according to the police report.

The man said he was able to get away by running toward the restaurant.

The two assailants were described as Hispanic men around 25 to 28 years old, both with heavy builds. The pickup was a small, older model, possibly a Toyota. No further description was given.

The incident remains under investigation by the police department.
