Police seek gunman in restaurant shooting

POSTED November 6, 2012 12:44 p.m.

An argument between a man and two brothers escalated into gun violence Sunday night when the man opened fire inside a Turlock restaurant, injuring one brother and shooting at the other while chasing him into a parking lot.

Turlock Police investigators have identified the suspected gunman, though he still remains at large. The name of the suspect has not been released.

The gunshot victim is a 22-year-old man who sustained a non-life threatening wound to his leg in the attack. He was transported by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injury, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

The incident began at 10:40 p.m. Sunday at the Los Gallos Restaurante at 811 E. Hawkeye Ave.

The suspect came into the restaurant and almost immediately was engaged in a heated argument with the two brothers.

At some point the man was hit with some item, possible a bottle, Webb said. After being hit the man pulled out a gun and started shooting.

One brother was hit while the other fled from the restaurant to the parking lot, with the gunman chasing after him.

The suspect fired additional shots in the parking lot, but no one else was hit, Webb said.

The suspect fled from the scene.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that the man and the brothers have had an ongoing dispute.

The restaurant did have a few customers inside, as well as a few employees, when the gunfire erupted.
