The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the Airport District in Modesto and is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest.

A deceased male was found about 9:35 p.m. Thursday in the area of Mono Drive and Mono Park in Modesto. The man was found unresponsive in a front yard of a home and pronounced dead at the scene.

The male victim had been shot, according to sheriff spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran.

The victim has not been identified and an autopsy has been scheduled for today.

 Homicide detectives are looking for a person of interest identified as Kraig Palacio, 20.

Anyone with information about this investigation or Palacio’s whereabouts can call Detective Darwin Hatfield at 525-7100. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters can also e-mail tips at http://www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message and be eligible for a cash reward.
