POSTED May 13, 2011 8:56 p.m.

A Denair man convicted of drug trafficking was sentenced to 10 years in prison in federal court on Monday.

Baltazar Vasquez, 45, was previously convicted of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

The U.S. attorney’s Office called Vasquez a methamphetamine supplier in the Central Valley.

According to the court records, Vasquez was supplying methamphetamine to various marijuana growers in El Dorado and Placer counties, who in turn sold it to other individuals. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the growers have been arrested and indicted on charges of operating marijuana grow operations.

Vasquez was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and five years of supervised release after his term ends.
