Students spend day as pioneers

Wakefield fifth graders got hands-on with history on Friday for the school’s annual Pioneer Day.   The students learn about U.S. History and the great migration of the Oregon Trail as part of their curriculum.  The fifth grade students dressed in pioneer outfits throughout the event and panned for gold, washed clothes on a washing board, and cooked food as they did in the pioneer days.
