CSU system sees record number of applications for fall 2013

The fall 2013 application cycle has set a new California State University record for submissions – the fourth straight year of record high system wide applications.

Through Nov. 30, 763,517 applications were submitted by students interested in a fall 2013 start at a CSU campus. The number represents a 12 percent increase from a year ago.

Those applications were submitted by 294,926 individual applicants, a 10 percent increase from fall 2012. Students generally apply to more than one campus.

First-time freshmen applicants rose to 173,985 from 166,028. Transfer applications were up as well, to 108,726 from 92,806. And graduate and credential applicants increased to 12,215 from 9,849.

Every campus received more applications than in 2012.
