Turlock and Pitman High were originally scheduled to face-off on the tennis courts last week, but an unexpected downpour forced the rivals to push back the match until Monday. But even though the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Pride was delayed, there was no stopping the eventual outcome, an 8-1 Turlock win.

“Turlock had another dominant match,” Pitman’s head coach Doug Reimers said. “They’re a really good team.”

The Bulldog victory secured the 6th straight Central California Conference Championship for the program, though it’s shared with Merced High, and put their 2012 CCC record at 9-1.

“I’m happy we’re champs again, sharing’s not a big deal,” Turlock’s head coach Linda Bejaran said. “The girls were a little disappointed though. Some of them were a part of the undefeated teams in the past and they wanted to continue that, but they’re glad they still finished first.”

Turlock’s only loss was the number two doubles mach. Pitman’s Ruby Hernandez and Alicia Ramirez completed an undefeated season as a pair with a win over Turlock’s Naomi Valadez and Sahemi Castorena.

With the regular season completed, Turlock’s Natalia Lima and Jillian Temple joined Pitman’s Britney Leon in Merced for the CCC Singles Tournament on Tuesday. Lima advanced to the quarterfinals but was eliminated by Merced’s Charlotee Frank after a back and forth match complete with two tie breakers. Temple also made it to the quarterfinals after completing a pair of two and a half hour matches against top players. By the time Temple made it to the quarterfinal match against Leon she was wore down and forced to withdraw with an injury default. Leon is now set to face Merced’s Frank on Thursday in the tournament final.
