POSTED June 10, 2011 8:48 p.m.

Add another academic achievement to the resume of Cal State Stanislaus women’s tennis junior Verena Preikschas. The two-time All-American and two-time California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honoree was named Thursday to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's At-Large Third Team.
She is the only student-athlete from the CCAA and just one of two from NCAA Division II West Region to be named to one of the three All-America teams.
Preikschas, who is from Arnsberg, Germany, has a 4.0 GPA as a psychology major. She has been the Warriors’ No. 1 singles player for three seasons and finished the 2011 season as the No. 25 ranked singles player in Division II.
Preikschas posted an 11-3 record in 2010-11 and has recorded 49 career wins. She and teammate Katie Eng is also the sixth-ranked doubles duo in the country. Preikschas led the 2010-11 women’s tennis team to a second consecutive Cal State Stanislaus Team Academic Award with the best combined GPA as a team.
Preikschas was one of two players from the CCAA to make the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District team, as voted by the sports information director, Cal State East Bay's Claire Pierce.
The Women's At-Large Team consists of student-athletes in a sport other than soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, football, cross country or track and field.
