Cal State Stanislaus men’s soccer coach Dana Taylor announced Friday that Paul Lekics has stepped down from his assistant coaching position to return to the Midwest for a coaching gig with the FCX Soccer Club in Barrington, Ill. Lekics was with the Warriors for two seasons.
“I am thankful for all the time and energy Paul has put into this program,” Taylor noted in a statement. “In two very short years, he helped move the Cal State Stanislaus program into the top echelon of Division II soccer.”
During his time with the Warriors, Lekics assisted in two consecutive winning seasons with combined records of 21-11-5. Prior to the arrivals of Lekics and Taylor, the Warriors’ previous winning season was in 2006.
Lekics was a four-year starter at Creighton University from 1992-96, trained with the under-23 U.S. National Team, competed professionally in Europe and participated in two Olympics in his career.
“Paul established himself as a top player in the college and pro ranks and it has been exciting to see him grow as a coach,” Taylor added. “He now has an opportunity to coach soccer back in his hometown, in the Chicago area.”
A national search for a new men’s soccer assistant coach is in progress.

The Warriors begin practice for the upcoming season in August.
