Warriors golf tied for first

POSTED October 25, 2011 11:16 p.m.

The Cal State Stanislaus men's golf team finished tied for first at the Otter Invitational on Tuesday, marking the third time out of four tournaments that the Warriors finished atop of the team standings this fall.
At the Seaside Bayonet's Black Horse Course in an event hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay, the Warriors rallied from fourth after the first day to finish first and tied with Western Washington.
"This was one of the strongest fields of the year,” Warriors coach John Cook said. “It's great when we get a chance to put the top teams in the nation together. Our guys were up to the challenge and just played good golf. I am pleased that we placed two players in the top 10."

Those two players where Teddy Schrier, who finished with a 1-over-par 217 for sixth in the player standings, and Trevor Blair, who placed 10th after his 220. That helped the Warriors, ranked No. 16 in the last Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches Poll, finished ahead of seven teams who were ranked ahead of them.
