POSTED November 15, 2011 10:43 p.m.

A pair of local volleyball players continued their path of success this year with the Holy Names Hawks.

Outside hitter Ashley Nickell, a Modesto High graduate, captured the player of the year award and Pitman graduate Kayla Coleman was named Libero of the year; both players have received these honors in two consecutive years.

The outstanding play by Nickel and Coleman helped the Hawks finish 16-9 overall and 10-0 in the Cal Pac conference, solidifying their second conference championship in two years. In addition to winning the championship the Hawks also earned special bragging rights as they won every set in conference play.
