Ethan Tait had a rough senior year at Turlock High. After playing competitive soccer for nine years Tait was forced to sit on the sideline in his last high school season as he dealt with a torn shoulder.

Even with his absence from the soccer field, universities were still interested in Tait’s abilities. UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and St. Mary’s were amongst those actively seeking his commitment, but in the end Willamette University won him over. That’s right, Tait will soon be a member of The Blitz.

“I chose Willamette because it’s a smaller school and I’m going to be able to play early without redshirting,” Tait said. “I want to have an immediate impact on the team.”

Tait played for the Bulldogs for three seasons and spent nine seasons with his club team, Turlock FC. As a junior at Turlock High, Tait started in his only year of varsity play and also served as a team captain. Tait’s talent also extended beyond the soccer field and into academics, where he earned a 4.0 GPA.

Now, with his lifelong dream in his grasp, Tait is preparing to take the next step of his athletic career in stride.

“Ever since I started playing competitive soccer I’ve always dreamt of playing in college,” Tait said. “I’m looking forward to the traveling and the better competition.”
