Eagles ready for SAL after successful WCJ

POSTED December 31, 2012 4:44 p.m.

Turlock Christian went two for three at this year’s West Coast Jamboree in Dublin. Competing in the Onyx Division, the Eagles earned a first day win over McKinleyville High, 48-44, fell short against International High on Friday 59-32, and bounced back against Berean Christian on Saturday to earn their 10th win in 11 games with a 48-45 victory.

“It was a very close first game but we were able to pull off the victory. As for the second game, they were so much faster than we were and we had trouble stopping them in transition,” TC’s head coach Edwin Santiago said.

Halie Bergman led her team in points in all three games. The senior Eagle provided 30 points against McKinleyville, scored 19 points against International, and notched 28 points against Berean Christian—including the game winning trey.

Saturday’s win over Berean Christian marked the end of pre-season play for the Eagles who open up Southern Athletic League competition against Denair High on Thursday.

“We’re very excited,” Santiago said. “We’re looking forward and are ready to start the second half of our season."
