Turlock girl takes first place at Punt, Pass and Kick

POSTED December 6, 2011 8:35 p.m.

Mya Sanchez earned a first place trophy Sunday in the Punt Pass and Kick competition at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Despite unfavorable conditions, Sanchez was able to best the other girls in the 6-7 year old bracket with a 40 feet, 3 inch punt, a 20 feet, 10 inch kick and a pass of 32 feet, 4 inches for a total of 93 feet, 5 inches.

“Since she was first they showed her a lot on the Jumbo Tron,” Mya’s father Phillip Sanchez said. “It was a neat experience for her.”

In addition to Sanchez and Colin Kaepernick, another Turlock athlete was on hand at the game. Tom Brandstater, a former Bulldog, was activated and on the sidelines for the St. Louis Rams.
