Turlock soccer clubs win big at tourney

The Turlock FC U-12 soccer club recently won its first tournament of the season, playing six games in three days to take the Santa Clara Sporting Invitational Championship, the number one ranked tournament in Northern California and third in the nation.

Turlock opened the tournament with a 3-2 loss to the FC Sporting Battle but bounced back to win their next five matches with relative ease, the last of which was a 1-0 victory against Davis Legacy. The U-12 unit, who have mostly been together since age seven, are now ranked No. 2 in Northern California. They are currently preparing to take on the top teams in area at the Mustang Stampede Tournament on Aug. 24.

Two other Turlock clubs, Turlock FC Chelsea U-9 and Turlock FC Earthquake Stanislaus U-18, also won a Santa Clara Sporting Invitational Championship.

The U-9 unit earned their championship with two victories, the first of which was a 7-4 win against El Camino Real FC Real Salina Madrid and the last of which was a 4-2 victory against Santa Clara Sporting 03B Green.

The men’s U-18 squad battled the HG Eagles Titans in a 2-1 quarter-final victory, the NVSC Boca Jr. in a 2-1 semi-final victory, and finally Castro Valley SC United Green 3-1 in the championship match.
