Vote for Nascimento; you won’t be sorry

POSTED July 27, 2012 10:00 p.m.

To The Editor:

Even though I am not from Turlock (I am from Merced), I felt compelled to write a few comments and observations that I have on behalf of Steve Nascimento, who is running for City Council.

I can only say how lucky the citizens of your community will be if Steve is elected. Many times I had to contact Steve on behalf  of friends who had struggled with Social Security issues — one that comes to mind was (a woman who was) dying with cancer.  She was denied Social Security through her chemo treatments and did not have the ability or energy to continue the fight. I contacted Steve and he took charge; he got into contact with the right people, fought the system and the red tape and she finally started to get the benefits that she deserved.

After that Steve was the go-to guy many times; he helped friends of mine who had issues like, a Vietnam veteran’s wife. Her husband had passed away, again problems with the VA getting a pension that she was entitled to, again Steve went into action. He is genuine, always willing and able to help.

I hope the people of Turlock will elect him for this position; you won't be sorry.

— Renee Davenport

This is a very positive testimonial. I'm grateful to Ms. Davenport and happy for the outcomes she reports.
It also makes me wonder if we desperately need Mr. Nascimento's expertise in even higher office, like in Sacramento or Washington DC. He sounds like a rare gem.
