Denair High brings 1940s radio show to stage

The behind the scenes look at staging a high school play will take center stage during the Denair High School Drama Club’s production of “Our Miss Brooks.”

“Our Miss Brooks” originally began as a radio show in 1948 on CBS. It was adapted to television in 1952 and starred Eve Arden. In 1956 it was made into a movie.

The theatrical version tells the story of Miss Brooks, a high school teacher who has to juggle a demanding principal, a pushy board member, and drama-ridden teenagers while trying to put on a high school play.

Denair’s show stars senior Hayley Perry as Miss Brooks.

Shows are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Denair High School Theater at 3460 Lester Rod. Tickets are $8 and dessert is included. For reservations call 632-9911 ext. 4202.
