Drive-by reported in Planada

Ten people inside a Planada home, including young children, escaped injury when the house was fired upon Friday night.

The shooting was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday and occurred in the 9000 block of Childs Avenue, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff spokesman Tom MacKenzie said at least eight rounds from a handgun were fired into the home.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.

The only description was that the suspects were driving a white van.
