Derek Allen Woods and Katrina Renee Silva are engaged to be married on Sept. 22, 2012. The couple first noticed each other at a mutual friends' home. They have been dating for three and a half years. Derek proposed to an unsuspecting Katrina on July 8, 2012, at a gathering with both families present, including her sister who was there via Facetime from Hawaii.

Derek is the son of David and Elizabeth Woods. He graduated from Turlock High School in 2009, and then from the Fire Academy in Modesto. He is currently active with the Turlock Rural Fire Department. Derek also works at Woods Furniture.

Katrina is the daughter of Janet Chisler. She graduated from Turlock High in 2010, and then completed her Early Childhood Education requirements. She is employed at Sequoia Preschool Academy while finishing her degree.

The couple is planning to be married by their youth pastor, Brad Quillen, on Sept. 22, 2012, at the Doerksen Ranch in Denair.
