Rudy Gutierrez, Jr., and Erica Diana Tovar, both of Turlock, are engaged to be married.

A nervous Rudy had planned to propose on the night of Nov. 30, 2012, as he and Erica lit Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland; but he delayed the proposal to wait for a friend to drive to Anaheim and witness the special event. After a day filled with rides, the couple made their way to the castle to wait for the nightly lighting, with Erica completely unaware of what was coming.

As the castle was lit, the couple embraced and then Rudy kneeled down and asked Erica for her hand in marriage. She, of course, said yes (in tears) and they shared a kiss, which was followed by many bystanders congratulating the couple and applauding.

The couple met when Rudy moved into Erica's neighborhood. A friendship was formed and then attraction blossomed.

Erica is the daughter of Chano and Diana Tovar of Turlock. She is a 2000 graduate of Turlock High School and is a special education paraprofessional for the Turlock Unified School District.

Rudy is the son of Francisca Ramirez of Modesto and Rodolfo Gutierrez of Turlock. He is a 2002 graduate of Turlock High School and works for the City of Turlock.

The couple have yet to set a wedding date and are considering getting married either on the beach or in Las Vegas.
