Don’t forget to vote

Polls will open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and voters will get a chance to choose their favorites in the five local races.

The Turlock Unified School District race offers the most crowded field, with seven candidates vying for three seats. Incumbents Frank Lima and Eileen Hamilton will take part in the race, but Loren Holt did not file for reelection. The incumbents will face off against real estate agent Miguel Galvez, senior inspector Harinder Grewal, fund development specialist Andrew Johnson, and parole agent Grady Welch.

Also on the ballot, Turlock Irrigation District Division 1 Director Michael Frantz, appointed following the 2009 death of former Director Phillip Short, will defend his seat for the first time against Turlock-based businessman and farmer Christopher Barth.

Denair Unified School District, Keyes Union School District, and Keyes Community Service District campaigns will also be decided on the ballot.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m.  Vote by mail ballots must be signed by the voter and received by the Stanislaus County Clerk-Recorder’s Office by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
