Around 9:20 p.m. Friday night the Turlock Police Department received a string of calls to 911 in regards to a low-flying airplane spraying a mist over parts of the city.

It was determined that the Turlock Mosquito Abatement District was conducting their scheduled ground spraying to lower the adult mosquito population in the Turlock community, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

According to the Turlock Mosquito Abatement District website, a public notice was posted on Thursday that spraying would be done on Friday. The target areas were listed specifically for northeast Turlock.
