The Turlock Police Department is seeking the identity of a man who attempted to steal the cash box from a pay at the pump machine at a Turlock gas station.

The attempted theft was reported at an AM/PM store in Turlock on May 24.

The suspect, a white male adult, used a drill to open the covering of the machine and then attached a chain to the cash box inside. He attempted to pull the cash box out, but was unsuccessful in his efforts.

Store owner Raja Chandi told KCRA 3 that past thefts of the machines have resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect leaving in a white Chevy pickup with an extended cab and a lumber rack.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department at 668-5550. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
