An 18-year-old girl is facing a burglary charge despite her efforts to avoid arrest by running across a freeway.

Krysta Lafrancis and a 17-year-old boy are accused of stealing from two businesses on Countryside Drive. According to the Turlock Police Department, the pair took items and concealed them in an empty purse.

At one site store security contacted the pair and was escorting them back when Lafrancis made a run for it. According to the police report, Lafrancis  jumped over a fence and ran across Highway 99.

Her escape was short-lived when she was taken into custody by a Turlock police officer at Pedretti Park.
