Couple finds burglar in home

A Turlock couple awoke to the alarming sight Monday morning of a burglar rifling through their possessions.

The couple, who live in the 3000 block of Gerald Court, woke up around 3:20 a.m. when they heard noises coming from inside their home. They spotted the burglar, who immediately fled the house, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The police were called to the scene and while there, they were told by dispatch of a resident in the nearby 400 block of Hillsdale Drive reporting a man continually ringing their doorbell.

Officers searched the area and spotted a man trying to hide in the bushes on Glenville Court. The suspect was apprehended and found to be in possession of items taken from the Gerald Court home, according to the police report.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Johnthan Russell. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, providing false information to a police officer, and robbery. He is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
