A Turlock man will stand trial on multiple felony charges stemming from allegations he sexually abused a teen girl over the course of three years.

A Stanislaus County Superior Court judge ruled the District Attorney’s Office had provided enough evidence to hold 33-year-old Robert Daniel Gomes over for trial on the charges against him. The ruling came at the conclusion of Gomes’ preliminary hearing and after it was determined he was mentally competent to stand trial.

Gomes was arrested by Turlock Police investigators in February on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, sodomy, oral copulation, and unlawful sexual intercourse.

Gomes is accused of assaulting a 13-year-old girl over a three year period while he was dating her mother, according to the police report.

The alleged abuse was reported by the girl when she was 16 years old.

Gomes is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Nov. 14.
