A man and woman are facing theft charges after allegedly stealing more than a $1,000 in merchandise from Wal-Mart and then trying to escape with the goods on a bus.

According to the Turlock Police Department, Chris Garcia, 43, and Serina Padilla, 37, entered the Wal-Mart at 2111 Fulkerth Ave. around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and proceeded to load up a cart with merchandise totaling over $1,000.

The pair then pushed the cart right out of the store and made their way to a nearby bus stop. They were contacted by police officers as they were getting onto the bus.
