A 22-year-old woman’s attempt at shoplifting was upgraded to a robbery after she fought with employees at a Turlock store.

Michaela Bassard was arrested on suspicion of robbery following the Monday afternoon incident at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 2480 Geer Rd.

According to the Turlock Police Department, Bassard was attempting to leave the store with unpaid for merchandise when she was confronted by the store’s loss prevention agents.

Bassard allegedly fought with the loss prevention agents before the police arrived and took her into custody. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Bassard was also charged with false impersonation after giving the officers a false name.
