A 20-year-old man was shot to death in Waterford on Tuesday in what detectives believe is a gang-related homicide.
The deceased was identified as Mario Ramos-Alvarez, 20 of Waterford. He suffered a single gunshot wound and was transported to Memorial Medical Center, where he died from his injury, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The shooting was reported at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of B Street in Waterford. A witness reported his friend had been shot in front of the residence, Sheriff Adam Christianson said.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored, four-door compact vehicle in the area. A passenger in the vehicle, wearing a red baseball hat, reportedly fired a handgun at Ramos-Alvarez and the witness, as the vehicle passed by the residence, striking Ramos-Alvarez.
Investigators have few leads in the case, but do believe the shooting was gang-related, Christianson said.
