Gas leak forces lockdown

A natural gas leak in a neighborhood off of Hawkeye Avenue prompted Turlock Unified School District officials to order the lockdowns of two Turlock schools Monday afternoon.

The lockdowns were ordered for Crowell Elementary and Dutcher Middle School and lasted for about 30 minutes. The lockdowns were lifted around 3:25 p.m. The district notified parents of the lockdowns via their phone notification system.

The Turlock Fire Department responded to the area and were on scene until the leak was secured by Pacific Gas and Electric workers.

No injuries were reported from the leak.
