A Hilmar man suffered major injuries in a crash caused by a suspected drunk driver.

The Tuesday night crash near Coarsegood left two injured and one man under arrest, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Keith Dion, 26, of Hilmar sustained serious injuries after his 2005 Ford Focus was hit head-on, the CHP reported.

The collision happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the area of Gold Creek Road and Road 415.

Jonathan Olmedo, 32, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic eastbound on Road 415 at an unknown speed. Dion also was on Road 415, heading west.

According to the CHP, Olmedo allowed his vehicle to drift to the left as it went through a gradual curve in the road. The vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane, where it struck Dion’s Ford Focus.

The head-on impact left both drivers pinned in their vehicle. After they were extricated by emergency personnel the two men were taken by air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. Both sustained major injuries from the crash, the CHP reported.

Olmedo was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs causing injury.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
