The Hughson teenager killed in an accident in Tuolumne County has been identified as Joseph Austin Estevam, 18.

Estevam died in a solo vehicle crash on a dirt road that also injured 17-year-old Dallas Casqueira of Hughson.

Estevam and Casqueira were driving northbound on Forest Road returning to their campsite Sunday night.

For an unknown reason Estevam veered the 1994 Jeep Wrangler to the right, where it struck a rock. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn several times, ejecting both the teenagers, who were not wearing seat belts, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Estevam was fatally injured when the Jeep rolled over him, according to the CHP.

Casqueira sustained minor injuries and was able to walk to a cabin in the nearby area and ask for help.

Estevam was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
