A Turlock man was arrested Tuesday on a variety of criminal charges after taking a bat to a vehicle during a domestic dispute.

The suspect, Troy Alan Calhounedmundson, 20, was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence, vandalism and preventing a person from reporting a crime, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Around 2:30 p.m. the police department received a report of a dispute in progress in the 900 block of W. Zeering Road.

The victim said she had been in an argument with Calhounedmundson, who she identified as her boyfriend. She said that Calhounedmundson tried to prevent her from calling 911.

The argument took a violent turn when Calhounedmundson allegedly grabbed a baseball bat out of the victim's truck and hit the vehicle, breaking a window and striking the victim, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

Calhounedmundson reportedly threw the bat in the air and when it came down it struck another vehicle, causing a large dent and paint damage, according to the police report.

Calhounedmundson was taken into custody at the scene.
