Man lands in jail for assault with knife

A Turlock man was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault for a drunken knife fight, the Turlock Police Department reported.

Police officers were dispatched to the area of Lander and Vermont avenues at 4:23 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man armed with a knife and trying to cut someone.

At the scene officers made contact with Angel Espita, 32, of Turlock. Espita was in possession of a folding knife and "displayed symptoms of intoxication," said police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

According to the witnesses, Espita had been chasing an individual while armed with the knife and at point had tried to cut the person, but was unsuccessful.

Espita was identified as the attacker and was booked into jail.
