A Turlock woman was arrested on a child abuse charge after she allegedly bloodied her daughter’s nose because she was crying.
Jolene Hollis, 23, was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Facility Monday morning on a felony charge of child abuse, according to the Turlock Police Department.
Hollis’ 2-year-old daughter was brushing her teeth when she splashed  water into her eyes and started crying. According to the police report, Hollis got upset about the girl crying and struck her several times in the face, causing a bloody nose.
Hollis tried to leave the residence before the police arrived, but was stalled by family members, Lt. Ron Reid said.
When confronted about the suspected abuse, Hollis allegedly stated that she was “only popping her on the mouth two or three times.”
Child Protective Services were contacted and the girl, who did not require any hospitalization, was placed into the custody of a family member, Reid said.
